I'm fundraising for...

This year we will be supporting Rowers for Change, which is particularly close to our hearts. Rowers for Change aims to improve competition and diversity in rowing all while breaking down societal barriers. This fundraising campaign raises money for STEM to Stern programs across the country, which aim to eliminate barriers to the sport of rowing for underserved communities while promoting academic and athletic excellence through rowing and STEM activities. We launched our chapter of STEM to Stern last year and have had great success, serving 12 different middle school athletes from the Trenton area. Now a few of our athletes are looking at highschools with the intention of continuing rowing. Our Princeton rowers and coaches serve as the rowing coaches, STEM tutors, and mentors for the program every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. 

In our coaching and tutoring efforts, we have partnered with the Princeton National Rowing Association (PNRA) at Mercer Lake. This partnership has allowed us to run most of the programming over at the Mercer boathouse, where most junior rowing in our area takes place. Currently we have 8 different middle schoolers from 5 different middle schools taking part. Here is an inside look! 

We would love your support in growing our program and expanding STEM to Stern nationally. Our goal is twofold: first, to raise money and encourage support for STEM to Stern efforts here in the Princeton/Trenton area and second, to raise this money and support on the national level in the lead-up to the Head of the Charles and the Princeton Chase.

Half the money we raise will go directly to our Princeton/Trenton STEM to Stern program. The other half will go to support other STEM to Stern programs we’re helping to start up around the country. Your support on this initiative will be felt strongly both here in the Princeton community, and across the whole country. Over the past year, STEM to Stern expanded from 6 to 25 programs nationwide and now serves nearly 300 athletes. 

Many collegiate teams are involved with Rowers for Change and have now created a competition to see who can raise the most money and awareness in support of this cause.  Over the last few years, the athletes at the Princeton Boathouse have raised over $40,000 to support important causes!
